Devlog 3 - Shading Fixes and Incoming Changes!

New week, new devlog!

Welcome to the 3rd Devlog of Little Backyard. This week has been filled with fixing gameplay issues that would remove player immersion. Up until now, the ocean has been a one-sided mesh, with no player feedback to whether they were above or below the water level. That has since changed, with a new foggy shader that is overlayed onto the player's vision when under water.

Additionally, significant work has been put into fixing the shading over of the ocean. The atmosphere shader in a sense "eats" at the ocean, making for an unrealistic ocean horizon. This has now changed (view differences in images), and the players can now enjoy a seamless ocean horizon.

This coming week will involve revamping the current tree and rock generation system. The trees and rocks are not real objects and can't be interacted with the player. However, since resource gathering will be an integral part of gameplay, all generated objects will have to be, well, real objects. Once this is finished, work will be put into reintroducing the various planet types in Little Backyard.

As always, if you like what you see, and wish to support this project, please like this post and leave a comment down below telling what you'd like to see in this game. Additionally, tell your friends about it! The exploration sandbox is very close to releasing, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming devlogs and updates!
